"A caring Catholic community celebrating & sacrificially sharing God's love with all peoples through spirituality, scripture, sacrament, stewardship, study, and service."
At the 8-19-18 Sunday 10 AM Mass, Bishop Guillory solemnly received a first class relic of the skin from the body of Saint Pope John XXIII and a first class relic of blood from the body of Saint Pope John Paul II. This is a historic event in our Cathedral Basilica when our sacred shrine will be the only place in the United States to permanently enshrine these two precious relics of these two marvelous modern saints. St. Pope John XXIII has an incorrupt body, and we received his precious relic directly from Cardinal Angelo Comastri, Vicar General of Vatican City and Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter’s in the Vatican. We received St. Pope John Paul II’s relic from Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, now Archbishop of Krakow, Poland, who was Pope John Paul II’s personal secretary for decades at the Vatican. These two very rare and precious relics can be seen and venerated in the Historic St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica.
